Lessons from Scottsdale: Courage, Connection, and Community

As fall settles in, I’m reminded how each new season brings a fresh opportunity for growth and change. I wrapped up summer with a whirlwind of events that were truly inspiring, even though they all seemed to happen at the same time!

First up, I attended the Global Leadership Summit for a day. While the speakers and content never fail to deliver, what truly fills my cup at this event is the people. It felt like being a kid in a candy store, surrounded by friends and familiar faces—people I’ve worked with, done life with, and connected with over the years. Those reunions always make my heart so full and grateful!

One of my favorite views in Scottsdale!

The very next day, I was off to Scottsdale, AZ for the Powerhouse Women event hosted by Lindsey Schwartz. This was my second year attending, but I almost didn’t go—even after I’d already signed up. My inner critic got loud, telling me things like, "You’ll just get lost in the crowd," or "You have too much to do to justify going all the way to Arizona." That familiar voice reminded me of how nervous I felt last year, walking into that big room all by myself.

But then I asked myself one simple question: “What did you experience at the end of the event last year?” My answer was crystal clear—encouragement, excitement, and a sense of purpose. I remembered how inspired I felt, and how that inspiration led to a breakthrough on my keynote speech that I’d been struggling with. That moment came because I gave myself the space to be surrounded by powerful, uplifting energy. So, I pushed past my doubts and said yes to going again.

we become what we believe we’re worthy of.

And you know what? It was absolutely worth it. Yes, it still felt awkward showing up alone, but the connections I made, the stories I heard, and the energy in that room of like-minded women were all beyond inspiring. My biggest takeaway was the reminder that even the most successful people start from scratch, and if they can do it, so can I.

You can do it too. Find a community that lifts you up, believes in you, and supports your dreams. Surround yourself with people who encourage you to take that next step, and where you can also make a difference in their journey. You don't have to do this thing called life alone. We’re all in this together, cheering each other on.

“People don’t change, they grow.”

Sending you all love and encouragement as we step into this new season. 💖

Warmly,

- Wendy Roop
