How You Show Up Matters: Embracing Energy and Choice

As leaders, we constantly influence the energy of the spaces we occupy, whether we realize it or not. How we “show up”the mindset, energy, and intentions we bring – can ripple outward, shaping outcomes, relationships, and culture. Recently, I had the opportunity to deepen my understanding of these themes through my certification in COR.E Dynamics™. This journey reinforced the importance of energy and choice in leadership and inspired me to explore how these concepts can empower others to thrive.

The Power of Energy in Leadership

Energy is a critical, yet often overlooked, component of leadership. It affects how we respond to challenges, inspire teams, and navigate complex decisions. Think of energy as the foundation of your presence. When your energy is low or scattered, it impacts your clarity and ability to lead effectively. Conversely, when you’re attuned to your energy and intentionally manage it, you create an environment where innovation and collaboration can flourish.

During my COR.E Dynamics™ training, I learned how different energy levels influence not only our productivity but also the cultures we build. This awareness equips leaders with tools to channel their energy constructively, especially in high-pressure situations.

Aligning Leadership with Purpose

Purpose is the compass that guides how we show up as leaders. When we align our actions with our values, we lead with authenticity and intention. Purpose-driven leadership fosters trust and inspires those around us to contribute meaningfully.

Reflecting on my coaching work, I’ve seen how connecting to purpose helps leaders unlock their potential. COR.E Dynamics™ reinforced this connection, emphasizing that when leaders operate from a place of clarity and alignment, they can achieve more sustainable and impactful results.

The Role of Choice in Unlocking Potential

Choice is the thread that weaves energy and purpose together. It’s easy to fall into autopilot, making decisions based on habit or external pressures. Yet, the most transformative leaders understand the power of conscious choice.

Every choice we make – from how we approach a meeting to how we handle conflict – carries energy. The principles of Energy Leadership taught me to recognize moments of choice as opportunities to shift energy and create possibilities. When leaders make intentional decisions, they set a powerful example for their teams, inspiring them to do the same.

Showing Up with Intention

How often do we pause to consider the energy we bring into a room? Showing up with intention is about being fully present, grounded, and purposeful. It’s about aligning our actions with the impact we want to create.

A simple yet powerful practice is to ask yourself before any interaction: “What energy am I bringing?” This moment of reflection can shift your perspective and enable you to respond rather than react. In my coaching practice, I guide leaders to adopt this mindset, helping them to navigate even the toughest situations with grace and clarity.

Building a Culture of Possibility

Leaders shape culture not just through policies but through their energy and choices. A leader who approaches challenges with optimism and resilience creates an environment where possibility thrives.

This is especially important in today’s rapidly changing workplace. By fostering a culture of curiosity and openness, leaders can empower their teams to explore new solutions and adapt to change. The COR.E Dynamics™ framework has provided me with new insights into how leaders can consciously cultivate this kind of energy in their organizations.

Practical Tips for Leveraging Energy and Choice

Here are five actionable strategies to help you harness energy and make empowering choices in your leadership:

  1. Pause and Reflect: Take a moment before key decisions to assess your energy and intentions.

  2. Identify Energy Drains: Recognize activities or interactions that deplete your energy and develop strategies to address them.

  3. Set Clear Intentions: Begin each day or meeting with a clear focus on the energy and outcomes you want to achieve.

  4. Practice Gratitude: Gratitude shifts your energy and opens up new perspectives. Start or end your day by acknowledging what you’re thankful for.

  5. Seek Support: Partnering with a coach or mentor can provide accountability and fresh insights into managing energy and choices effectively.

Conclusion

The way we show up as leaders matters deeply. Our energy and choices shape not only our own success but also the experiences of those around us. My studies of Energy Leadership and COR.E Dynamics™ have been a powerful reminder of this truth, equipping me with tools to guide leaders toward greater impact and fulfillment.
