Growth and Gratitude: My Fall Highlights
This fall has been an incredible season of growth, learning, and connection. As I look back on October and November, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunities I’ve embraced, the connections I’ve nurtured, and the personal moments that have filled my heart. Here’s a glimpse into this busy and beautiful chapter of life.
Professional Milestones 🚀
This fall brought a wave of meaningful professional milestones that reminded me why I love the work I do. Early in October, I had the privilege of facilitating Learning to Work Through Others for the dedicated team at St. Michaels in Virginia. Watching their insights unfold and their collective growth take shape was deeply rewarding. Shortly after, I joined the Aileron team for a transformative three-day retreat in Columbus. Together, we dove into themes like conscious leadership, powerful conversations, and leading with authenticity—topics that continue to resonate deeply with me.
In my online peer group, I guided participants through revisiting their facilitation learnings, sparking new clarity and confidence among the group. One-on-one coaching also remained a cornerstone of my work during these months, as I had the honor of walking alongside remarkable clients, witnessing their courage and breakthroughs.
Another highlight was leading a two-hour Intro to Energy Leadership session for Montgomery County Human Services' “Advance” program. There’s something powerful about exploring the ways energy levels influence leadership, and this group’s engagement left me inspired. Finally, I was thrilled to launch the Grace & Gather Group Dinner series for the Space & Grace Community. We began this series with a special evening at J. Alexander’s, sharing stories, laughter, and connection over dinner—a dream come true for the women’s community I’ve been steadily building over the past year.
Business & Beyond 🌟
Beyond the milestones in coaching and facilitation, I stepped into new and exciting roles this fall. In October, my cohosts Karen Benoy Preston, Scott McGohan and I recorded the first guest episode of our podcast, Culture is an Inside Job, with the brilliant Lisa Arie of Vista Caballo. Lisa’s personal journey, insights and approach to transformation were a true gift, and I left the conversation feeling inspired and grateful to share her wisdom with others. We’re so honored to have this platform to continue bringing powerful, authentic stories from culture-focused leaders to our listeners.
Another meaningful moment came when I opened up about my own mental health journey in a deeply personal 2-part episode interview on Culture is an Inside Job. Sharing my story was a vulnerable leap, but one I hope will encourage others to find support, share their heart and know they are not alone.
I also had the privilege of attending the Unify Dayton Summit at the Kroc Center. It was so special to be part of the community of leaders coming together for a day of inspiration and networking as we grow together and pursue God’s vision for our unified city.
Amongst a busy October I was so happy to reconnect with my beautiful group of friends at breakfast through the Women in Christian Leadership network. Not long after, I spoke at the Women and Wine event hosted by the Troy Chamber of Commerce. Preparing hearts for the holiday season through that discussion was a heartwarming experience, as was welcoming a virtual executive assistant to Wendy Roop Coaching. This addition has already brought a sense of ease and flow to my operations, and I couldn’t be more excited about the possibilities ahead.
Mental Health Advocacy 🧠
Mental health advocacy has always been close to my heart, and this season brought new opportunities to support this important cause. In partnership with Scott and Taylor McGohan, I collaborated on a meaningful video for their venture, One Morning. This project reminded me of the power of vulnerability and connection in addressing mental health challenges.
On the 12th anniversary of my children’s father Mark’s passing, I shared a message of hope and awareness with my community. It’s always a tender moment of remembrance, but channeling grief into a space for advocacy has been one of the most meaningful ways to honor Mark’s memory while supporting others on their journey.
Personal Moments That Filled My Heart ❤️
While work kept me busy, it was the personal moments that truly filled my soul this fall. In October, we celebrated my mom’s 79th birthday with a night to remember. Going to see Hamilton together brought us both so much joy, and seeing her face light up throughout the evening reminded me of the importance of cherishing these milestones.
Later that month, I helped host a Tiny Human Shindig for my daughter Madison and son-in-law Corey as they prepare to welcome their baby girl this December. The excitement of becoming a grandmother is indescribable, and celebrating this next chapter with loved ones was so special.
In November, Andy and I marked eight wonderful years together with a weekend getaway to German Village in Columbus. It was the perfect opportunity to slow down, reflect on our journey, and create new memories in one of our favorite places. Around the same time, we celebrated my son Zac’s 30th birthday—a milestone that filled me with pride. That same week, we honored my dad’s memory on his birthday, gathering as a family to reflect on the love and legacy he left behind.
Gratitude for the Journey
As I reflect on the past two months, my heart overflows with gratitude. The professional opportunities, the personal celebrations, and the time spent with loved ones have all reminded me of what truly matters. Every connection, every shared moment, and every step forward fills me with purpose and hope for what’s to come.
To all my friends, colleagues, and loved ones: thank you for your support and being part of this journey. Your presence and encouragement make everything richer and more meaningful.
